Renowned British clairvoyant Avril will be visiting the Costa del Sol once a month to hold events and conduct private readings. She will be making her first appearance in Spain at the Mind, Body and Spirit Festival.

“I first started having these feelings when I was quite young,” says Avril. “I suppose you could call them premonitions, but information would come to me in a way that I have gradually come to recognise and understand more fully, so that now I am able to clearly vocalise what I see.”

In a world of sceptics she first had to overcome her immediate family and friends. “My siblings thought I was crazy, perhaps putting it on for attention – I wouldn’t have been the first young girl to do so – but ultimately everyone was stunned into silence when I would touch on something that I simply had no way of knowing or finding out about.”

 Asked if she has never found it a little disconcerting, the amiable mother of four smiles warmly. “There’s nothing spooky about it. I mean, I don’t do séances or anything, I simply get an awareness when I focus on people, and then information starts coming through, rather like a radio tuning into a station. I have to say, I only get the information that is out there, so I can’t control it as such, just receive and pass it on.”

In demand

For years Avril preferred to ignore her gift, limiting herself to predicting the destinies of immediate friends and family as she raised her children and lived like a normal housewife. Eventually, word got out about the uncanny precision of her predictions, and more and more people beat a path to her door. “In the end I was seeing people between washing up and ironing – increasingly, people I had never met before.”

The point came where the demand for her services was so great that her only option was either to stop or go professional. “Since I can’t really help myself anyway, I decided to do the latter and be available to more people.” In the seven years since she has been at Manchester’s Trafford Centre, Avril has become a phenomenon who draws people of all ages and walks of life. “Mostly, it’s women, but I have people who come all the way from the Middle East and South Africa.”

Barry is a founder member of the I.S.A. (The Independent Spiritualist Association). He has been a practicing Medium now for over 30 years. Born with the gift, he did not have to sit in any development classes to bring the gift forward.
